Artifact 1: What Genre for What Audience?
One very important skill that ENC2135 teaches is the usage of genre when attempting to reach an audience. In the example, the intended audience is children aged zero to three years old. A 1500 word research paper is never going to persuade a toddler to stop passively consuming media (they don’t even know how to read!), but a nursery rhyme is exactly the kind of persuasive genre that will reach them. Knowing how to properly reach an audience, especially audiences that normally don’t register as important, is a crucial skill that every writer needs to understand.
